Gambia’s rainy season
The intense rainy season generally occurs from June to October. Despite any heavy rainfall that might occur, there is no real risk of hurricanes or flooding. The rainy season is great for nature, as The Gambia becomes green and lush. With August being the wettest and coolest month, the rain is expected to reach up to 400mm. However, the rain tends to fall at night, making it easier to continue with your day-to-day life without getting caught in the rain.
Gambia’s dry season
The glorious summer weather generally occurs from November to early June, with the highest temperatures being between March and June. The winter dry season is extremely busy as many love to travel between November and March (Christmas being peak time). There are many benefits to Gambia’s dry season, including plenty of health benefits due to the sun and heat, and great opportunities to see wildlife such as an array of birdlife.
Best times to visit The Gambia?
As previously mentioned, The Gambia’s dry season is winter and its hottest period is between March and June. However, this isn’t the ‘best’ time of year. All seasons of the year provide different opportunities and allow you to see different species of wildlife.
